June 30: International Asteroid Day and the Concept of World Safe ePay Day

June 30 marks International Asteroid Day. Looking forward to World Safe ePay Day!

International Asteroid Day is an Observance Day, not a Remembrance Day.

Observance Days focus on a specific thought, an ongoing thought.

On June 30, International Asteroid Day, everyone will turn to the heavens.

The holiday was established following the 2014 publication of the film 51 Degrees North, which examines what might happen if an asteroid struck London.

The film's creative team (many of whom are scientists) aimed to raise awareness about the threat of asteroids impacting Earth and how we may help protect ourselves.

To do this, they established a foundation and held the world's first International Asteroid Day in 2015.

Over one million asteroids in orbit have the potential to strike Earth, yet modern scientists have only detected roughly 1% of them. To combat.

Why Asteroid Day?

In December 2016 the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/71/90, declaring 30 June International Asteroid Day  in order to "observe each year at the international level the anniversary of the Tunguska impact over Siberia, Russian Federation, on 30 June 1908, and to raise public awareness about the asteroid impact hazard."

International Asteroid Day aims to raise public awareness about the asteroid impact hazard and to inform the public about the crisis communication actions to be taken at the global level in case of a credible near-Earth object threat.

The General Assembly’s decision was made based on a proposal by the Association of Space Explorers, which was endorsed by Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS).

**World Safe ePay Day: Conceptual Stage**

Looking forward to the potential establishment of World Safe ePay Day, this proposed observance would focus on the significance of secure electronic payments in today's digital economy.

As financial transactions increasingly shift from physical to digital platforms, the importance of robust cybersecurity measures becomes paramount.

World Safe ePay Day aims to highlight best practices in digital security, promote consumer confidence, and foster global collaboration to safeguard electronic payment systems.

**Intertwining with International Asteroid Day**

While International Asteroid Day looks to the skies to protect our planet from extraterrestrial threats, World Safe ePay Day would focus on the ground, ensuring the safety of our digital financial transactions.

Both observances share a common goal of promoting awareness and fostering cooperation to address global challenges.

Just as International Asteroid Day mobilizes efforts to detect and mitigate asteroid risks, World Safe ePay Day would seek to unite stakeholders in enhancing the security and reliability of electronic payments.

International Asteroid Day is an abstract celebration, like the proposed World Safe ePay Day. Of course, there are opportunities for folks to touch and feel asteroid at some places across the world.

By celebrating these observances, we acknowledge the interconnectedness of global issues, whether they come from space or cyberspace.

Each day serves as a reminder of our shared responsibility to protect and improve the systems that support our daily lives, from the celestial to the digital.

Disclaimer: These are my thoughts only. The bottom line is spreading the Joy of Safe ePayments. World Safe ePay Day is one such medium.
