21st September - Unifying Forces: How the Spirit of the International Day of Peace Guides Us to World Safe ePay Day
I am
advocating for World Safe ePay Day.
The final
goal of all my Blog Posts and social media interactions is to have a Day
declared as World Safe ePay Day.
On September 21st, as the United
Nations observes the **International Day of Peace**, we are reminded of the vital role that a culture
of peace plays in our global community. Established in 1981, this day calls for
a cessation of violence and the promotion of dialogue, cooperation, and
understanding among nations.
This year's theme, **"Cultivating a Culture of Peace,"** marks the 25th anniversary of the UN's
Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace. It emphasizes that
peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but a dynamic process that
encourages engagement and mutual respect.
In an era marked by rising
tensions and ongoing conflicts, it is crucial to remember the UN’s call for
dialogue and the values essential to building a peaceful society, including
respect for human rights, education, and non-violence.
Coinciding with this global
observance, we also recognize **World Safe ePay
Day**, a day that underscores the importance of secure and
responsible online transactions.
As our world becomes increasingly
digital, fostering a secure online environment is essential for promoting trust
and cooperation—cornerstones of a peaceful society.
Just as the International Day of
Peace encourages us to cultivate understanding among individuals and nations,
World Safe ePay Day urges us to create a safe digital landscape that protects
users and builds confidence.
Both observances remind us that
the journey toward peace and security begins in the mind and the community.
By fostering a culture of peace
in our interactions, whether in person or online, we can contribute to a world
where conflicts are resolved through dialogue rather than aggression.
The efforts to promote safe and
responsible digital practices echo the UN's advocacy for peaceful resolutions
and collective well-being.
As we ring the Peace Bell at the
UN Headquarters, let it serve as a reminder of our shared humanity and our
commitment to cultivating peace—both offline and online.
Together, on this day, we not
only honor the ideals of peace but also reinforce our collective responsibility
to ensure safety and trust in our digital transactions, paving the way for a
more harmonious global community.
International Day of Peace is an Observance
Day and not a Remembrance Day.
Why is this
an Observance Day?
This is
an Observance Day as 21st September every year is dedicated to
promoting peace and encouraging cessation of violence, via conflict resolution
and dialogues between nations.
Of
course, it includes some elements of remembrance – particularly the human cost
of war - this day mainly serves to raise
awareness and mobilise efforts towards a culture of peace.
The day
calls for action and reflection on how individuals and communities can contribute
to global harmony.
