I am advocating for World Safe ePay Day.
The final
goal of all my Blog Posts and social media interactions is to have a Day
declared as World Safe ePay Day.
**Struggle
for World Safe ePay Day Intertwined with International Day of Sign Languages**
Every year on **23 September**,
the United Nations recognizes the **International Day of Sign Languages**,
celebrating the rich linguistic diversity of the Deaf community and advocating
for their rights. This day is crucial not only for raising awareness about the
importance of sign languages but also for highlighting the urgent need for
accessibility across all facets of life—including financial systems. This
aligns closely with the ongoing **struggle for World Safe ePay Day**, which
emphasizes the necessity of inclusive and secure digital payment options for
everyone, including the over 70 million Deaf individuals worldwide.
The **International Day of Sign
Languages** is a powerful platform for promoting the rights and recognition of
sign languages, echoing the principles of the **UN Convention on the Rights of
Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)**. This convention underscores the importance
of equal access to information, services, and education. As we celebrate this
day, we must remember that a significant portion of the Deaf community lives in
developing countries, where barriers to secure digital payment systems remain
prevalent. Without access to safe ePayment solutions, many Deaf individuals
face economic marginalization, limiting their ability to participate fully in
the digital economy.
This year’s theme, “**Sign Up for
Sign Language Rights**,” calls on world leaders to embrace national sign
languages and promote an environment where Deaf individuals can engage fully in
society. However, this inclusivity must extend into digital spaces. It is
crucial to ensure that ePayment systems are accessible, user-friendly, and
equipped with resources such as visual aids and sign language support. By
advocating for safe ePay solutions, we can empower Deaf individuals to navigate
the digital marketplace confidently, reducing barriers that often lead to
economic isolation.
The **Blue Light Challenge**
during the International Day of Sign Languages encourages governments to
partner with national Deaf associations. This initiative serves a dual purpose:
it promotes the rights of sign language users and emphasizes the critical need
for accessible digital transactions. By shining a blue light on sign languages,
we also shed light on the need for financial technologies that prioritize the
rights and safety of all users, regardless of their linguistic background.
As we gather to celebrate the **International Day of Sign Languages**, let us
also focus on how to create a future where **World
Safe ePay Day** symbolizes not just secure transactions, but the
empowerment of all communities—including the Deaf community—through accessible
financial systems. This day is a reminder that advocating for the rights of one
group inherently elevates the rights of all, fostering a society where everyone
can thrive, sign, and transact without barriers.
